Day 123/365 - Les yeux sans visage.....

Ok, it was really hot outside today and not much better inside since we have no AC. This is a shot of one of the ceiling fans in the house on at full blast. It came out looking like some sort of eye staring back at you.

I had to lie on the table to get this shot with the light centered in the shot. I also used the flash to create the back background. I didn't want a shot of the fan blades frozen in time and this one came out really cool looking.... It also kinds of reminds me of the Pink Floyd Pulse album cover for some reason....

....eyes without a face....

Day 122/365 - and a partridge in a pear tree.....

Not sure what kind of tree this is, but I found quite a few pictures of a spring pear tree that look very similar so I'll go with that until I'm corrected. Thought I'd get some nature shots in now that the sun is out and the flowers are budding everywhere some blooming now others on their way

A macro shot using the telephoto/macro lense. Love the detail of the flowers with the bright blue sky in the background. A nice clean and simple shot with great colors and setting...

...two turtle doves.....

Day 121/365 - one is the loneliest number that you'll ever do....

All that was left after the Michelle's birthday party was this piece of cake. I had a 3 and a 0 for candles from last year that we didn't use so I quickly improvised and you can see the hack job I did on that poor number 0 candle! Happy Birthday Michelle! She was surprised that I had her coworker show up as well as her best friend Jenn...

Blurry shot and I had a few others for the day but it was a birthday so I needed to include Something from it..

....two can be as bad as one, it's the loneliest number since the number one.....

Day 120/365 - And I'm proud to be an american.....

We went to the zoo today and saw all the aminals... yup aMinals :) hee hee. Brendon was with us but he slept the whole time , not like he would have known what was going on at such a young age but... I had to take a picture of the bald eagle, such a stoic bird...

A shot from a distance I used the full focal length of the 300mm zoom even though I wasn't really that far from him it seemed like it . A little dark since the branch blocked out a bit of my sunlight but a neat picture....

...where at least I know I'm free....

Day 119/365 - Over 40 feet high! (Grape Ape!)

Ah the sights of summer popping up everywhere. This is one of the grape hyacinths popping up in random places all over the yard. I love taking nature shots and especially macro shots so I crawled around in the yard and got this.

Great macro shot, too many to choose from today but I went with this one. I love the colors of the hyacinth and the details as well with the the focus on the flower.

....(Yup, that's me!) The Great Grape Ape!.....

Day 118/365 - Playing in a rocking band Hey momma, look at me Im on my way to the promised land....

Perched along the edge of the top level of the parking lot at the Providence Place mall are these large stone balls. I was looking for some sort of shot from the top of the garage looking down over the city but it's all highway, a big messy highway and interchange....nothing that interesting. This isn't much different, yet it's in the camera.

I like the bright sunshine and the great looking clouds off in the distance. The shadows created are unique in that they are so perfectly straight. Simple, quick shot to get a picture in today.

...Im on the highway to hell.....

Day 117/365 - Wynonas got herself a big brown beaver And she shows it off to all her friends......

This is an old stick that I collected back probably about 9 years ago or so when I went up to Lake George with Eric and Jackie and his family. This was sitting on the ground outside the cabin we stayed in and I thought it looked so interesting because of the way the top of the stick looked as if it had been gnawed on by beavers. Besides the crack which formed later, the end of the stick had all that distinctive markings on it and it looked as if those are tooth marks which created this unique looking top. I later sanded it down and carved off the extra bark and polyurethaned it was well. It's in my hiking corner at home now.

Simple shot using a nice incandescent indoor light. I love the woodgrain details and the light highlighting the beaver teeth mark top...

....One day, you know, that beaver tried to leave her,
So she caged him up with cyclone fence.,,,,

Day 116/365 - Raindrops keep fallin' on my head.....

With a lack of pictures that day I ventured outside in the rain to look around the yard where I saw my Japanese Maple that we planted last year. I thought it wouldn't make it through the transplant but it's looking healthy so far. I snapped this closeup of the water droplets off of one of the branches. Later that night I realized that this pictures (one of the others from a different angle as well) looked eerily similar to the Microsoft wallpaper on one of my laptops! I didn't plan it that way just happened. It's on the XP media center edition wallpapers. Well guess it was a good subject matter then.

A macro shot of the water droplets beading off of the branch. I love the detail of the water and branch with the intentionally blurred background. I had a few other shots that came out quite well but opted to post this one.

....But that doesn't mean my eyes will soon be turnin' red.....

Day 115/365 - C is for cookie, that's good enough for me.....

All the things a baby needs lined up under his swing. That's what I noticed when I walked in the room. The four of these were lined up as if in some sort of chorus line. Brendon got some of these from Denise when she visited, he doesn't really know what they are yet, but he will eventually. I can't believe on today's Sesame Street that they say the Cookie Monster only has cookies "Sometimes" because they are aren't a healthy snack and they should be eating vegetables. Seriously!! He's a Cookie Monster , he eats COOKIES! I am one of the healthies eaters I know and I loved this guy when I was little, didn't steer me wrong. Anyways..

I used the flash on this shot to save me from going to find the tripod which I think is still in the car. I didn't pose them like this , someone else must have. Great use of primary colors here though, minus the light green care bear...

.....Oh, cookie, cookie, cookie starts with C, yeah! Cookie, cookie, cookie starts with C, oh boy! Cookie, cookie, cookie starts with C! .....

Day 114/365 - All my bags are packed Im ready to go....

Only picture of today taken when we went to drop Denise off at the bus depot for her ride back to Boston for her flight back to Milwaukee... whew!! That was a mouthful. She came to visit Michelle for the week, they've been friends ever since they met each other at Ripon college when Michelle was starting out her educational endeavors...

...i'm leaving on a jet plane....

Pointed and Clicked.

Day 113/365 - A lady that I know came from Columbia..She smiled because I did not understand.....

Went to the YMCA field day at the last minute after CJ reminded us 30 minutes before the events began. He was doing a few of the relay races there and completely forgot about it until that morning. Well we saw him race and then were sitting down have a small bite to eat. Dean and Mary Ann are seen here walking back towards us, I don't know what they were laughing about but looks funny to me...

Nice distant shot with my telephoto lense at full 300mm or thereabouts!. The colors are great with the contrast of pink and black and the background colors as well. Nice day outside for some picture taking...

....Then she held out some marijuana, oh ho. She said it was the best in all the land....

(perhaps their laughing about the song now!)

Day 112/365 - I scream, you scream....

What do you think the girls wanted after a nice barbecue dinner Friday night..... The bowls are lined up as Michelle creates some delicious brownie sundays with plenty of toppings to choose from.

Another simple shot that I like, taken pretty close up yo can see the details of the foreground creation and the blurred mountain of deliciousness behind it...

..they all screamed for Ice Cream!!!....

Day 111/365 - I see your true colors.....

A little stop on the way back to Smithfield and I found this little hideway.... This area abounds a gold course and was just as peaceful as could be at the time. It seems that spring may finally be showing its true colors.

I love the shadows and the color in this shot. Camped out under the canopy of these trees and letting the sun shine on through creates a great shot , if not for the washed out sky in the background it would be perfect, perhaps the sky was that way....

...shining through....

Day 110/365 - Let me tell you how it will be; There's one for you, nineteen for me....

Well April 15th is tax day so here's something all you proud parents can look forward to if your baby was born the prior year!! Heh, a perfect picture for the day.. while we don't get that deduction this year for him, the bib was too perfect too pass it considering Michelle is a Tax Accountant....

Simple shot, no lighting or tripod , instead I used the cats tower to keep the camera steady.

...'Cause I'm the taxman,
Yeah, I'm the taxman....

Day 109/365 - Around the world, around the world.....

Thought I'd try and get some shots of the kids playing basketball in front of our house. Then I got the brilliant idea of having the 3 of them through the balls at the basket and try for something there, didn't work either. So the neighbor tried throwing all 3 of them up at once and I got this.

Although the balls are blurry in the shot I think it's a neat shot seeing them captured midair and the look on the neighbors face is priceless!!

...around the world around the world

Day 108/365 - Come to my window.....

Quiet days lately. I was hanging out in the backyard because it was finally a little bit nice outside and CJ was practicing with the juggle sticks. I snapped this picture of the broken garage door on the shed we have out there. Eventually this will be gone and will be an outdoor entertainment room or something to that effect....

...craw inside, wait by the light of the moon....

Day 107/365 - How much is that doggie in the window (arf, arf).....

Casey! Such a great dog. She's in a little rough shape, not only did she already have bum hips, she hurt her front right wrist and is limping around all over. I felt bad for her. We saw Casey today at Michelle's Dad's house for Easter, all of us went to the Assabet Regional High School for Brunch that the students prepared, it was very good, great cooks over there!

Great closeup shot of the dog. I love the fact that I got it so close and you can see the individual hairs even and the mouth is open just a bit. Nice contrast of colors in his coat as well.

...The one with the waggley tail....

Day 106/365 - it's tiiiiiiime......

What in the world, either they are really large Coke cans or it's a really small shopping carriage ? Which do you think ? Perhaps I'll let you decide.

Neat contrast of colors, the shot has the right lighting, yet the cans are a little blurry due to the camera focusing more on the cart then what was inside it....

....to Stop and Shop!.....

Day 105/365 - Alone in the dark but now You've come along ....

After a day and a half of cleaning the basement of the water that poured out of our broken storage tank, I was looking around for something to photograph. I didn't even think at the time to take a picture of the water that filled my floor, nope, because I was in a rush to get it cleaned. I was standing outside the garage taking a breather and looked up and saw this though....

Neat closeup on a compact fluorescent lightbulb. I especially like the stark white of the glass contrasting against the rough rusted metal plate where a fixture once stood. I really need to fix this......

...You light up my life
You give me hope
To carry on .....

Day 104/365 - you need to take care of your car, yes it's true...

Had to take my work car down to get checked out, the oil pan light was on, so I brought it into Jiffy Lube. It was empty so I didn't have to wait long at all, I just kind of lingered around snapping pictures of this and that, the mechanic didn't seem to mind or perhaps even notice.

Just a plain boring shot, not a lot of pictures today, the colors and clarity came out decent though...

...you want it done real fast, with follow through.....

Day 103/365 - Deep in the dark you'll surrender your heart but you know....

Cutting it close somedays to finding a shot , I do struggle when I'm not in many different situations for the day. Had to go to BJs tonight to do some testing on our equipment at the kiosk so I grabbed the camera with the intent to find something on the way home. Well I thought I'd try and capture some of the details of the craters on the moon. Not so much. I think I need to work on that, a darker spot perhaps away from street lights may help.

I think the clouds came out very neat in this shot. I do however notice purple fringing around the bright white overexposed moon in the shot. I think I'll read up on the right techniques for taking pictures of our moon. It's up there everynight and noone thinks twice about it, so it gets a little shot out. Yay Moon...

...but you know that you can't fight the moonlight .....

Day 102/365 - Red light yellow light green light go....

Not a lot of things going on yesterday but I thought giving you a glimpse of the new color I'm painting the kitchen would interest you. It's called lime green from Olympic paints. Supposedly it is a low VOC paint. For those of you not familiar with the term it stands for Volatile Organic Compounds and they are chemicals that are emitted from the paint we use for even years after it has dried.

Such a clean looking shot, the one switch is on because I needed more light in the room to keep the camera from needing to keep the shutter open any longer than necessary. No tripod here just me holding the camera steady as she goes. Love the color contrast.

...Crazy little woman in a one man show....

Day 101/365 - Reproduction, reproduction!....

We planted this thing from a disc of compacted dirt and a bulb only a few weeks ago and it now towers over 2 feet tall in the little pot. I forget the name of the flower but it kind of looks like to trumpets side by side on the stem. This sits in the front window of the house and gets plenty of sunlight...

The shot and the others like it all came out very grainy for some reason, I'm not sure why, perhaps I used the zoom to close on the flower and it couldn't focus properly, Not sure. I do like the colors of the petals and the contrasting greens behind it...

...Make my stamen go berserk...

Day 100/365 - There's a party goin' on right here.....

Another month another time to get a self portrait in here. This time I had the idea today after I saw Brendon dressed in orange and brown that I would do the same and take the self portrait lying next to him on the floor. Well here it is, many to choose from and the stupid cat kept walking into the shots!

I chose this shot out of all the ones I took because of the expression on the baby's face! He loves the camera he is looking right at it. Perhaps because of the precarious why I arranged this shot with the tripod tilted over us supported by the weight of the cat's condo thing, anything to get my shots.....

... a celebration to last throughout the years....

....also celebrating 100 pictures so far!!!....

Day 99/365 - I wish I were and Oscar Mayer Weiner....

How could I resist taking a picture of this!! We had just finished lunch at Joe's in Braintree after meeting with the DJ for the wedding and we needed a place in the parking lot to feed Brendon so Michelle drove around. As we were coming around the building I saw this parked and I said we have to go back and take a picture of that!! So she fed Brendon and I snapped a few photos of the dog....

Cool shot of the entire weinermobile. I love the bright colors , they contrast very wall against the stark white background, although this thing looks strangely out of place no matter where it is parked.

..That is what I truly wish to be......

Day 98/365 - I walk a lonely road.....

A lousy rainy Friday. It rained all week. I'm wondering when we will have some springtime temperatures, so far a few scattered sunshine days but very few and far between. Here I am back in the monastery, I needed to grab the umbrella to keep the camera dry and lucky I did for as I walked it began to downpour. Here you see one of the many winding trails you can find in here.

A very misty looking forest lies down beyond. I like the shot for that reason, the serenity of the mist rolling in among the trees. Nothing special but my polarizing lense that a friend gave me recently. That and crouching down with my umbrella in tow.

...the only one that I have ever known....

Day 96/365 - Happy Birthday to you.... (AGAIN REPOST)

It is what it is, a birthday cake we had for Jenn when she was here yesterday. She didn't just turn 6 though, her daughter decorated the cake with the candles and decided 6 was enough apparently, how cute.

I love the way the shot came out, it wasn't planned that it would have such a dark background with the candle light, in fact the lights in the room were on, the camera just captured the light of the candles and that is it apparently. I do have a polarizing filter on now so perhaps that did it.

...Happy Birthday dear Jenn, Happy Birthday to you.....

n.b. you made it in here Jenn!!

Day 97/365 - Who let the dogs out.....

Ok I had other pictures today, but I took a look at this one and thought it was a bit cute. This is the dogs that started barking as I got back in my car in Millbury today. There were two of them in there waiting for their owner to come back out. Poor dogs stuck waiting in the car. At least it wasn't that hot out today! This one was trying to get a good sniff of me apparently.

The shot came out better than I thought after looking at the lcd version of the picture I didn't think it was that clear, but it's ok. Just a simple point and click no special setup here.....

....who, who, who, who, who....

Day 95/365 - The thigh bone connected to the....

Oops out of order posting!!

The first summer barbecue! Thought I'd throw some chicken on the grill the other night since it was finally a warm night and no rain, well it wasn't that warm but standin in front of the grill it felt that way at least. Nothing like some good ole chicken done up on the grill.

Ok, now don't put the camera on the grill Brian... Nah I didn't but I got close enough to it to get the closeup. A neat shot although looking at the closeup of the meat is kind of a bit gross, it tasted good all the same...

...knee bone....
